The String of Pearls is a striking succulent easily identified by its unique, bead-like foliage that cascades beautifully over the edges of a pot. This 6-inch variety is perfect for adding a "living curtain" effect to bright windowsills or hanging planters, offering a sophisticated, modern aesthetic.
Care Guide
Light: Thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. It can handle some direct morning sun, but intense afternoon heat may cause the "pearls" to shrivel or burn.
Water: Use the "soak and dry" method. Water thoroughly only when the soil is completely dry. In a 6-inch pot, this usually means watering every 2 to 3 weeks depending on the humidity.
Maintenance: Avoid overhandling the delicate stems. If the vines become too long or sparse, trim the ends to encourage fuller growth and ensure the top of the plant receives enough light to prevent thinning.
Safety Note:
Unlike the Spider Plant, the String of Pearls is toxic to humans and pets. According to the ASPCA, ingestion can cause vomiting and lethargy in dogs and cats, so it is best displayed in a high hanging basket out of reach.
